Are you ready to embark on the exciting journey of starting your own business? Join us for an insightful session tailored for new business owners and intenders in Wyndham.

This free 45-minute talk is designed to highlight the key issues you need to be aware of as you begin your entrepreneurial journey. This session aims to create awareness of the vital elements of starting a business, helping you to be alert to the challenges and opportunities ahead. We want to ensure you’re prepared to navigate the early stages of your entrepreneurial journey. There will be plenty of time for networking before and after the session.

What You’ll Learn:

• The Importance of a Business Plan
We’ll introduce you to the essentials of a business plan and why it’s crucial for your success. You’ll understand the importance of setting clear goals, strategies, and financial projections.

• Legal and Regulatory Must-Knows
Learn about the legal structures available for your business. 

• Basic Financial Management
Discover the fundamentals of financial management, including budgeting and cash flow. You’ll learn why keeping accurate financial records is vital and the initial steps to take.

• Marketing and Sales Insights
We’ll discuss effective marketing strategies to attract customers and the basics of developing a sales plan. Learn how to identify your target market and reach them effectively.

• Key Operational Considerations
Understand the critical aspects of running a business day-to-day. We’ll highlight the importance of excellent customer service and creating a positive customer experience.

This event is presented by Wyndham City Council as part of the Wyndham Learning Festival, featuring a speaker from the Small Business Mentoring Service Inc (SBMS).

SBMS is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing accessible and affordable mentoring services for small business owners. SBMS passionately believes in the vital role small businesses play in enhancing their local communities and driving economic development. Working directly with business owners, and in collaboration with community, government and industry partners, SBMS delivers tailored mentoring support that is responsive to the needs of small business, when and where it is needed, in times of hardship and in times of opportunity. Through our committed, knowledgeable and experienced volunteer mentors, SBMS strives to empower business owners to build resilient, prosperous, and sustainable businesses.

 

About the Speaker – Katya Ellis

As a talented business strategist and marketing all-rounder, Katya is well placed to help most small businesses with her extensive experience and exceptional people skills. Katya has held many marketing and business management roles with an emphasis on digital marketing; project, event, staff, partnership management and retail, both locally and internationally. She is passionate about what she does and loves helping others, with over 1500 mentoring sessions since she joined SBMS in 2015. Katya prides herself on her ability to develop strategies with a focus on the capabilities and budgets of her clients.
