Art You OK?
Art You OK? creates a space to talk about art and mental health.
This is a showcase of the power of art in influencing mental health and providing people with a new option that they can adopt and apply to have better mental health.
The exhibition includes works by Xiang Li, art therapists and local artists. The art therapists’ works relate to how art can support mental well-being from a professional perspective. In contrast, the artists works relates to how they see the relationship between art and mental health.
Interactive sessions are included across the exhibition. With an art-therapist present, audience members are invited to create artwork to express their emotions or set well-being goals.
Xiang Li is an award-winning exhibition artist and registered art therapist. Xiang came to Australia in 2009, has worked in the disability sector and started a journey in art with watercolour painting, mixed mediums, found objects, installations, and sculpture. Art-making is how Xiang expresses her voice and explores her identity as an immigrant and a woman in Australia. She’s interested in exploring ways that art can be used to connect with our spiritual needs.
